Comforting Comestibles: Delicious Menu Ideas for Your One of Kind Reception
Dec 19, 2018 05:09 PM Back
Baby maybe it’s cold outside, but we New Yorkers know how to heat and spice things up. One of the most delicious trends to date is incorporating a “comfort foods bar” at your wedding reception. This makes a fun and fabulous cocktail hour idea or addition to dinner if you are hosting a buffet style event. With promises to be a foodie favorite as guests can build their own taco, omelet, pizza, etc.
Guests can be part of the fun as they “get their hands dirty” and help seasoned chefs season their unique creation at each and every comfort food station. You may also want to consider both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks that compliment the menu for each station. For example, think about serving margaritas, sangria and Spanish sodas at your taco station, mimosas or Bloody Mary’s at your omelet station, etc.
Pick fun, festive and appropriate décor for each station as well, this will only add to the ambiance. Consider stylizing your pizza station with a leaning tower of Pisa (for a hint of “irony”), placing mini sombreros on your Spanish soda bottles, etc.
Keep it organic and authentic. Ask friends and family for favorite recipes for each station. For example, I have a neighbor who always made an amazing flan. Just think how great it would be if you asked someone like her to make her flan for your fete…or give the catering hall her recipe and feature her photo above her contribution and your celebration.
Don’t want to do a full on comfort food station, think about adding some of your favs to the menu as side dishes or passing them out as hors d’oeuvres.
